Is Bible Reflections 4 You?
This is a great question. The altruistic reason for Bible Reflections is to give people another resource to study the Scriptures. I have always believed that though I may not be able to help everyone or even the majority if you help a few, that others can't, then you have helped make the world a better place.
Personal reasons; first, it will help discipline some of the people at Selma Christ and New Burlington Churches and myself to do a study not just a reading of the entire Bible. This will, I hope, be a starting point for others to grow in Biblical knowledge. As a pastor and teacher, this is vital for me to continue doing. Just like surgeons and teachers can never assume they know it all, neither can I. Secondly, I want to take these writings when complete and put them into a book for my children. It will be, I hope, a lasting legacy. Lastly, it may give me name recognition which won't hurt but increase interest in my other writings. Yes, this last one sounds immensely self-serving, but it does take place and many writers do blogs for this express reason. For me to deny any self-serving motives feels dishonest in my mind.
So what are my primary reasons? Actually, the first two reasons are why I am doing this. Am I arrogant enough to think that I am better than so many others? No, but I do hope I can help someone. If not, I have learned myself and I have tried. It's a huge undertaking but I know the discipline and perseverance will be worth it.
I hope you enjoy it. The plan is to repeat the blogs and update as needed once the four years are completed. so if you come into the middle of this project then you can just keep going the first things will come around again. At first, this blog may seem a little random in its layout but a pattern will be laid out as it is completed.

The question for you is what are you doing to grow in Biblical knowledge? Is this something that you can use? The books are available on Amazon so you could read or I encourage journaling your own thoughts. You could also just use this blog site.
Whatever you decide, I want to encourage you to shoot big. You will find that four years will travel faster than you expected and what you will have done and recorded will be of inestimable worth.
