This chapter doesn't seem to lead much to the ordinary lives of people today. However, there is one man listed who clearly stands out, Nimrod. We know for sure that he was the founder of the first imperial kingdom (coming after the events in chapter 11 or surrounding it). We know that he was a mighty hunter. What all he hunted is unsure, the wild beast of the day for sure but there are hints that it was something more. Regardless, that really doesn't matter much right now. I want to look at what was said about him.
Nimrod was a mighty hunter before the Lord. There are two schools of thought on this phrase one is that "before the Lord" was used as a superlative explaining his excellence. The second is that "before the Lord" was in standing in opposition before God. The one thing I want to point out to all of us is that no matter who we are great or small everything we do is before (seen) by God.
Consider these scriptures:
Hebrews 4:13 “Nothing in all
creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare
before the eyes of him to whom we must give account”
Psalms 139:1-3 “O LORD, you have
searched me and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive
my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are
familiar with all my ways”
Job 37:16 “Do you know how the
clouds hang poised, those wonders of him who has perfect knowledge?”.
Psalms 33:13-15 “From heaven the LORD
looks down and sees all mankind; from his dwelling place he watches all who
live on earth—he who forms the hearts of all, who considers everything they do”
Usually, we are tempted to do wrong when no one is looking, but remember everything we do is before the Lord

Gen 10:1-32
(1) Now these are the generations of the sons of Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth: and unto them were sons born after the flood.
(2) The sons of Japheth; Gomer, and Magog, and Madai, and Javan, and Tubal, and Meshech, and Tiras.
(3) And the sons of Gomer; Ashkenaz, and Riphath, and Togarmah.
(4) And the sons of Javan; Elishah, and Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim.
(5) By these were the isles of the Gentiles divided in their lands; every one after his tongue, after their families, in their nations.
(6) And the sons of Ham; Cush, and Mizraim, and Phut, and Canaan.

(12) And Resen between Nineveh and Calah: the same is a great city.
(13) And Mizraim begat Ludim, and Anamim, and Lehabim, and Naphtuhim,
(14) And Pathrusim, and Casluhim, (out of whom came Philistim,) and Caphtorim.
(15) And Canaan begat Sidon his firstborn, and Heth,
(16) And the Jebusite, and the Amorite, and the Girgasite,

(23) And the children of Aram; Uz, and Hul, and Gether, and Mash.
(24) And Arphaxad begat Salah; and Salah begat Eber.
(25) And unto Eber were born two sons: the name of one was Peleg; for in his days was the earth divided; and his brother's name was Joktan.
(26) And Joktan begat Almodad, and Sheleph, and Hazarmaveth, and Jerah,
(27) And Hadoram, and Uzal, and Diklah,
(28) And Obal, and Abimael, and Sheba,
(29) And Ophir, and Havilah, and Jobab: all these were the sons of Joktan.
(30) And their dwelling was from Mesha, as thou goest unto Sephar a mount of the east.
(31) These are the sons of Shem, after their families, after their tongues, in their lands, after their nations.
(32) These are the families of the sons of Noah, after their generations, in their nations: and by these were the nations divided in the earth after the flood.
